At the heart of the Into Balance Method, is a philosophy deeply rooted in understanding and addressing the root causes of pain rather than merely managing symptoms. We achieve this by using functional brain-based approaches, integrating various clinical modalities that are adapted to the individual ensuring that each individual's journey toward wellness is as distinctive as they are.
With the Into Balance Method, healing becomes more than a process—it's a journey back to your natural balance and a restored sense of vitality.
Begin Your JourneyWith a personalized approach, we are dedicated to helping you heal, grow, and build the tools needed for lasting well-being.
Carol's main aim is to get you moving and feel well again. She is here to ease your pain and help you feel more connected in your body by providing the care and expertise you need for a successful recovery.
Carol Yip is a seasoned Applied Functional Neurology & Rehabilitation Specialist with a remarkable 25-year track record in helping clients overcome complex health challenges ranging from chronic pain, trauma & anxiety, postural issues, pain syndromes arising from autoimmune conditions, chronic illnesses or digestive or metabolic disorders through a unique, brain-based approach.
Carol is a registered physiotherapist with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board and the Ministry of Health in Malaysia. She combines extensive clinical expertise with a compassionate, client-centered philosophy. Her professional career in New Zealand was invested in cardiorespiratory and surgical physiotherapy, Women's Health, trauma (intensive care unit, cardiac care unit and burns unit), orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation and finally in heading the Outpatient Orthopedic department. Seeing the fragmentation of services received by the patients in that time, she decided to embark on the holistic path for wellness.
Over the years, Carol's approach has evolved into a brain-based method by interacting with the nervous system to know what is going on in the body. She helps you to connect the dots, map out the imbalances and identify the root cause or causes of your imbalances. She is a very hands-on and intuitive therapist—conducting detailed assessments that allow her to target imbalances with precision and focus. This method ensures that each treatment is specifically tailored to the individual such that two individuals with the same conditions can have different therapies!
It is a method of therapy that utilises specific assessment to understand normal and abnormal functioning of the nervous system and adopt an integrated holistic therapy to assist the body back into balance by creating homeostasis in the most achievable manner to achieve that self healing. She had come to observe that a nervous system under constant threat can become a barrier to recovery, leading to a state where symptoms persist as the body remains locked in "survival mode."
This insight drives her use of a systems hierarchy framework that systematically clears imbalances based on priorities and gradually shifts the nervous system into a state of calm and safety. When the nervous system no longer perceives threat, it then allows for further interventions or any lifestyle adjustments to take place allowing for efficient processing of change and neuroplasticity. By reinforcing neuroplasticity—the brain's ability to adapt and reorganize, it helps to sustain progress. This calm state not only enhances physical healing but also empowers clients to adapt to life's stresses with resilience.
Carol's work aims to help you transition out of the "fight or flight" mode and facilitate a state of balance and homeostasis, guiding the body toward self-healing in a manner that feels achievable and sustainable for you.
Results can never be guaranteed in therapy, what matters more is the support that you are given and she equips you with the tools you need to enhance your movement and well-being. Ultimately, the healing responsibility still lies with the client – "the healer only triggers within you your own ability to heal"- as true healing is ultimately driven by your own brain and body. The objective is simply to allow a person to be better able to adapt and compensate for the stresses the body had memorised.
Carol's therapeutic philosophy emphasizes a collaborative approach—it's a partnership where she ignites the healing potential, but the client sustains it through lifestyle changes, consistent self-care practices, and targeted exercises. You will gain a deeper understanding of your body and how it had been working and you will be given the tools to help break the cycle of chronic stress and dis-ease, but she reminds you that it is not about solely leaving the healing responsibility to the therapist to get fixed. "A healer only triggers within you your own ability to heal" as true healing is ultimately driven by the client's own brain and body.
Results can never be guaranteed in therapy; genuine healing requires support rather than promises as we still do not know everything about the intricacies of the human body. Carol's approach is to equip the clients with the tools they need to enhance their movement and well-being. The client will need to perform their part by taking an active approach in performing the home exercise / self help hacks to rewire or reprogram the system. Healing can be a gradual or swift journey, depending on the client's unique situation and history. What it is not is a one off event. Trust the process and above all, set small achievable goals along the way.
Through her integrative brain based therapy, Carol Yip offers more than just relief—you get to experience sustainable transformations that help you find balance, resilience, and the freedom to live life more fully.
Intervention consists of 4 parts: 1)Evaluation at the start of the session, and priorities established for the treatment session. 2) Intervention - The modalities chosen will be based on the specific issue and the condition of the client. It may be that emotional clearing may need to be done first to clear the path for structural work as emotions strongly affect the body’s homeostasis – circadian, hormonal or immunological. 3) Homework assignments in the form of customized exercises or prescribing lifestyle habits to support the corrections and 4) Toward the conclusion of each session, a few key steps take place. I reassess your progress, address any final adjustments, go over the ongoing treatment approach, and check in on any at-home activities, including recommended exercises and stretches. If not already captured when wrapping up the session, instructions for these exercises would be provided via whatsapp
The process is non judgmental and non threatening. Different people experience this release in varying ways and at different times, even days after a session. Do not be alarmed. It is just the stuck emotions coming to the fore to be released. It will pass. Practicing post-release self-care, such as hydration, grounding, journaling, and gentle exercise, can enhance emotional healing and integration.
The session generally winds down in about 45 min but often there will be exercises / stretches/ summary of session to go over or video recording of prescribed exercise. However, the first session may take up to 60 minutes
Most clients notice some improvement after the first visit, although more substantial changes might require at least 4 sessions. The longer a person has maintained a certain compensatory movement pattern, the more likely it is to have caused additional imbalances elsewhere in the body and may take longer to improve. Additionally, care is taken to not make too many corrections / over treat in one session as this will end up overwhelming the system which can cause additional trauma. This must be avoided at all cost. As I often remind clients, just as your body didn’t change overnight, restoring balance might also take some time. Generally, the gap in between sessions is about 2 weeks apart to allow for integration within the nervous system.
Wear comfortable clothing (e.g., loose t-shirt and shorts) to allow free movement avoiding denim, skirts or business attire. Sessions are conducted barefoot.
The duration of results depends on the origins of the problem. If it stems from a singular event or past stress no longer affecting you, results may last indefinitely. However, if issues arise from ongoing stressors or poor posture habits, regular self-care exercises will be essential for maintenance.
